Cosmic Ballet III: Halo spin evolution in the cosmic web

چکیده

We explore the evolution of halo spins in cosmic web using a very large sample dark matter haloes $\Lambda$CDM Planck-Millennium N-body simulation. use NEXUS+ multiscale formalism to identify hierarchy filaments and sheets at several redshifts. find that all times magnitude correlates with environment, being largest filaments, and, for first time, we show it also filament thickness as well angle between spin-orientation spine host filament. For example, massive thick spin faster than their counterparts thin while low-mass reverse is true. have studied alignment orientations preferential axes sheets. The varies mass, predominantly along spine, those high-mass perpendicular spine. On average, masses, become more later times. At redshifts, shows considerable variation thickness, mass corresponding transition from parallel varying by one order magnitude. environmental dependence little $z\leq2$ likely consequence correlations initial conditions or high redshift effects

Cosmic stellar relics in the Galactic halo

We study the stellar population history and chemical evolution of the Milky Way in a hierarchical ΛCDM model for structure formation. Using a Monte Carlo method based on the semi-analytical extended Press & Schechter formalism, we develop a new code GAMETE (GAlaxy MErger Tree & Evolution) to reconstruct the merger tree of the Galaxy and follow the evolution of gas and stars along the hierarchic...

Time Delays in Cosmic Ray Propagation

Cosmic Rays (CR) travel at speeds essentially indistinguishable from the speed of light. However whilst travelling through magnetic fields, both regular and turbulent, they are delayed behind the light since they are usually charged particles and their paths are not linear. Those delays can be so long that they are an impediment to correctly identifying sources which may be variable in time. Fu...

Halo correlations in nonlinear cosmic density fields

The question we address in this paper is the determination of the correlation properties of the dark matter halos appearing in cosmic density fields once they underwent a strongly nonlinear evolution induced by gravitational dynamics. A series of previous works have given indications that kind of nonGaussian features are induced by nonlinear evolution in term of the high-order correlation funct...

Voids and the Cosmic Web: cosmic depression & spatial complexity

Voids form a prominent aspect of the Megaparsec distribution of galaxies and matter. Not only do they represent a key constituent of the Cosmic Web, they also are one of the cleanest probes and measures of global cosmological parameters. The shape and evolution of voids are highly sensitive to the nature of dark energy, while their substructure and galaxy population provides a direct key to the...

Influence of Population III stars on cosmic chemical evolution

New observations from the Hubble ultra deep field suggest that the star formation rate at z > 7 drops off faster than previously thought. Using a newly determined star formation rate for the normal mode of Population II/I stars (PopII/I), including this new constraint, we compute the Thomson scattering optical depth and find a result that is marginally consistent with WMAP5 results. We also rec...
